Sensational chases, dramatic shootings and explosions – all that in your imagination. Poles love crime stories, and crime novels are top best-selling books in the country. Let’s go straight to the source, searching for clues during Criminal Affair Festival held in Pomerania since 2011.

The initiative of the Provincial and City Public Library in Gdańsk and Oficynka Publishing House from Gdańsk has been a hit from the very beginning. Masters of crime, novices and skilful craftsmen striving to make it to the mainstream visit Gdańsk to weave a web of intrigue and answer burning questions together with inquisitive readers.

This year’s programme includes exceptional meetings with authors, workshops, crime games, literary walks, exhibitions, and meetings for children and youth.

The festival guests who will take part in the library events include Marek Krajewski, Marta Guzowska, Zygmunt Miłoszewski, Krzysztof Beśka, Vincent S. Severski, Aleksander Rogoziński, Piotr Borlik, and Martin Widmark – one of the most popular contemporary Swedish writers of children’s literature.

The special guest will be Arne Dahl, a writer, critic, and editor and one of the most prominent Swedish authors of crime stories. His books have been translated into over 30 languages and sold in 4 million copies. He has won popularity in Sweden and abroad with a series of crime stories about the A‑Team, a special police unit dealing with international crimes in Sweden.

Criminal Affair Festival is held on 10–12 October 2019.
